Hope, An Excerpt from Friday:

Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes it is a
tree of life.”

. . . In other words: Hopelessness deadens our spirit leading us to following our mind/body into sin that leads to death. On the contrary, hope will enliven our spirit and lead us into love (life, for what is life void of love, but death?).

Romans 8:25 “But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance”
Psalm 71:14 “But I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more.”

. . . Hope fills us with excitement for the future. It instills in us a desire to press on and meet the next mark. Hoping continually keeps us in a place of motion; it keeps us running the race. To lose hope is to despair and live a bleak, hopeless, worthless existence.

1st Corinthians 9:10 “he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope”
1st Peter 1:21 “ . . . through him believe in God . . . so that your faith and hope are in God.”

. . . Our hope must be in God meaning that our hope must come from Him. God wants to give us the desires of our hearts, but first he must plant those desires, hopes, within us. We need to hear from Him and align ourselves with Him so that we know that what we are desiring are truly the hopes of God. Once we know what He wants us to hope for we must “plow” it, bring it to fruition for His sake. The works that we do are to be done in the realm of hope that God has laid out for us.

Psalm 16:9 “My flesh also will rest in hope.”

. . . Hope is a secure place. Our hopes are true and in truth we can stand against the enemy. If we have hope it is because the Lord has spoken it to us. The word of the Lord is infallible and indestructible. It is therefore a perfect place to seek refuge in the midst of travail. We stand on our hope knowing full well that it is true and the no lie of the enemy can stand against it.
