Pride and Prejudice:

Jerome, the roommate, and I just finished watching the 6 hour long Pride and Prejudice mini series. We watched it in parts. Now we're both wanting to watch the new movie version that came out in the Fall.

I'm hesitant.

Reason. Kiera Knightly, while a pretty lass, doesn't really seem like an Elizabeth Bennet. She's too cutsy. EB is a strong, independant woman with a striking wit and intelligence. KK isn't a person a relate those qualities to.

And then of course there is Judi Dench as the Lady Katherine de Bourg. Judi Dench is so type casted. Its as if the people in charge of casting say "we need some stuck up old bag with a british accent," enter Judi Dench. She's played every old woman from the Aunt in "The Importance of Being Earnest" to Queen Elizabeth. The only non-old lady role, that I can think of, would be Agent M in the 007 movies. She's the cliche answer for de Bourg; like they didn't even try to find someone else!

She's like the Hillary Duff of Britain. (By that I mean she only plays what she actually is and has no versatility as an actress) But I can't say for sure.

I'm also skeptical of some young buck actor playing Mr. Darcy, but who knows maybe they will have pulled it off. It would be nice to have a good movie version so that I didn't always have to commit 6 hours to the watching!

Luv,
Clay

Hahahahah. Love the part about Judi Dench. I'm not sure that will be very good either. de Bourg has to go absolutely crazy at the end, and I'm not sure I can see that coming out of Dench. Ah, well. Maybe I will be wrong. And yes, watch the version Melissa is suggesting. It is a little different, but hilarious.
