So Long And Thanks For All The Fish:

It makes it hard to watch a movie after you have read the book. When I first saw Hitchhiker's Guide the movies I thought to myself "That was hillarious; is there anything more gut-bustingly enjoyable than a Dolphin song and dance number?!" My thoughts now of course are "Sing dolphin! But holy crap this movie has nothing at all to do with the book!" Which was sad for me because as any of you who have read my profile know: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is now one of the, if not the, all time best books ever.

However, now that all of the frustration over it not being anything at all like the book has passed, I can now enjoy the movie for what it is. Yeah. Which means all the dolphin song and dance numbers I could ever hope for!

And of course Marvin who is absolutely adorable despite his gloomy demeanor. Where I must add that the cast was all around good looking; as compared to the Mini series where Trillian looked like and aging porn-star, Zaphod looked like a LSD junkie with a fake plastic second head and a license to run an aging porn shop, and Vogons who looked like something deposited from a dog's posterior.

Unfortunatlely, we once again miss out on the age old lesson: One should never throw the letter 'Q' into a privet bush. But hopefully they will make a second movie which has little to with the book but retains such moral lessons. And character's such as the beast who wants to be eaten and telephone sanitizers.

Luv,
Clay

At least I understand you. I LOVE THE DOLPHIN NUMBER!!!! Did you know that they put it in on the DVD as a sing along with one of those little bouncing dots??!! Beautiful. And I did like the movie, even though it was different. Adams was probably just bored again and wanted to try something different. The cast was great, too. Somehow, Mos Def didn't suck! Who would've thought?! And what could be better than Vogons who are actually Jim Henson Muppets?
