Semolino:

So I was doing drawings for Semolino. I thought about continuing to do so. We discussed pricing. Her response was that she would pay me in coffee gift cards . . .

The more I think about it the more infuriating it is.

It is an insult to my work. They all love it, but no one would be willing to pay its actual value. They see my illustrations, but they don't see the art in it.

And its an outrage and offense to consider them worth nothing more than coffee.

Everybody has to start somewhere.

Make a deal so they leave your business cards out or something. Or maybe leave your logo on the drawings.

It may be insulting to get paid in coffee, but that exposure may gain you many times those grounds in paying customers who like your work.

I agree with anon.. I'd be pretty upset to be paid in coffee but if you can leave business cards out and get proper credit, it might help get future jobs. And hey, coffee!

Should I ever need some drawings for anything, I'll call you.
