For my birthday present to myself I purchased 3 books by Watchman Nee from Amazon.com. Renouncing the old proverb, about judging books by their covers, I chose the 3 by which covers I liked best. I'm excited. Those are some good looking books. And their content will be good as well.
Presently, I'm reading Watchman Nee's "The Spiritual Man." There's a deep book for you. I feel like I'm underlining 3/4 of every page! Likewise, if used as a projectile it can be quite dangerous (Its a rather large book).
Its a hard one to take in though. I've just finished reading a fairly large section about the flesh. Most of what he talked about came from Romans 6-8. But what it boiled down to is God utterly abhors anything that comes from the flesh and not the spirit. Even the good of the flesh.
One, I'm hard on myself and automatically begin questioning every aspect of my own life. Which generally just frustrates me because I could find a way to turn everything I do into a fleshly work. Two, it reminds me of my days in Christian Challenge. Everything we did was at the instruction of the Staff and any deviance from their ideas made you an infidel! And I'm certainly one for deviance.
Especially concerning God; and, especially, when Him and His thoughts are being replaced with the thoughts of a man! In the world of Clay this is cause for deviation.
But all it boils down to is the knowledge that I need the Holy Spirit. He is the one who knows right and wrong, good and bad. He is the Spirit of Truth and there is nothing I desire more than truth, absolute.
Luv,
Clay
