New Groove, HA:

This is how things tend to go. If I have something set in my mind to do. I do it. Even if it means spending $20 on a movie that I've never seen and could, as disney sequels generally do, suck. But this is the risk I take in desiring anything at all. Of course, it didn't help that other people were loathe to change their minds and watch "Brothers Grimm."

I'm reminded of my day looking for the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

However, I felt the need to see "Kronk's New Groove." I mean "The Emperor's New Groove" was one of disney's best surely they can't have screwed up a sequel to it!

Oh, how wrong I was.

The animation was subpar; far inferior to the original. The story was reminiscent of something you would see in one of the Disney Channel's many, pitiable, animated series. (Uh oh. Series is both singular and plural. I shall henceforth call them seri: emphasis on the "i" sound.) Though, for Disney's sake, I will say that "Kim Possible" is quite entertaining. I also felt that the script left something to be desired. It was the single father raises a son, but is emotionally distant so the son must try and force himself to be something he isn't so that he can win his father's approval bit. Which is fine for a subplot, but we are Americans. We want explosions and intense battle with very large and incredibly evil beings, not foo foo acceptance bits.

And, honestly, Disney, stop killing off people's mothers. We get it, you hate women. Stop trying to fill our children with your sexist propaganda!

After much inward deliberation and further reflection, I've decided that the movie makes a fair supplement to the original film, but by no means a sequel. In this manner I find it much more enjoyable. Which, you must understand, is only me rationalizing a pointless and irrevocable purchase.

Luv,
Clay
